Biography

Associate Professor and Section Editor for the Journal of Clinical Medicine at the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Herlev and Gentofte Hospital, University of Copenhagen. Principal Investigator of the CORTICO-COP trial (Lancet Respiratory Medicine, 2019) — the landmark multicentre RCT demonstrating that eosinophil-guided systemic corticosteroid therapy significantly reduces steroid exposure in hospitalised COPD exacerbations. His most recent work (2026) examines the cardiovascular safety of short-term oral corticosteroids in COPD outpatients. He leads the ongoing COPERNICOS trial on eosinophil-guided ICS reduction in stable COPD, and has published extensively on MACE risk during acute infections in COPD patients.
