Biography

Professor of Respiratory Medicine at Paris Cité University and Head of the Respiratory Medicine Department at Cochin Hospital (AP-HP), Paris. Member of the GOLD Scientific Committee and former President of the Société de Pneumologie de Langue Française (SPLF). Co-chair of the ERS 2018 Annual Congress and Guidelines Director at ERS. An internationally recognised authority on COPD phenotyping, inhaled therapy, and real-life effectiveness research. His most recent work (2025) addresses biologic therapies in COPD: in a large real-world cohort, fewer than 22% of patients met inclusion criteria for any currently available biologic — underscoring how critical patient selection remains.
