Biography
Professor of pulmonology at the Medical University of Warsaw, one of Poland's leading authorities on non-invasive ventilation. His research covers both acute applications of NIV in hypercapnic respiratory failure and the long-term home NIV management of obesity hypoventilation syndrome and stable COPD, including the unresolved question of when CPAP is insufficient for OHS and when bilevel pressure ventilation becomes necessary. He has published on NIV physiology, carbon dioxide rebreathing in NIV circuits, and contributed to European guideline development on long-term home ventilation.
