Biography

MD, PhD, Research Director at Hospital Universitario Son Espases, Palma de Mallorca, and researcher at CIBERES (Spanish Biomedical Research Network in Respiratory Diseases). Coordinator of the Difficult-to-Treat Asthma and Fragile COPD Clinic. His landmark prospective study, published in CHEST in 2023, redefined the role of bronchoscopy in the workup of severe uncontrolled asthma prior to biologic therapy — demonstrating both its safety and its value in phenotyping patients beyond blood eosinophil counts. A 2024 follow-up paper validated a standardised pathological scoring system for bronchial biopsies in severe asthma.
