Lecturer of Pulmonology @ University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova
Dr. Ramona Cioboată is a respected pulmonologist, researcher, and academic, with a strong focus on tuberculosis, respiratory infections, and translational clinical research. She currently serves as Lecturer of Pulmonology at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova and as Head of the Pulmonology Department at “Victor Babeș” Clinical Hospital of Pulmonology and Infectious Diseases, the regional reference center for TB and infectious diseases in southwestern Romania.
Dr. Cioboată has extensive experience in both clinical care and research, coordinating and contributing to multiple national and international projects on tuberculosis, COVID-19, and infectious lung diseases. She has served as Principal Investigator or team member in more than 7 research grants, and has published over 40 peer-reviewed papers, many focusing on the intersection of TB and COVID-19.
Her research interests include biomarker development, innovative diagnostic methods, and personalized approaches to tuberculosis treatment. She is actively involved in the training of medical students and residents and plays a pivotal role in integrating scientific discovery into patient care.
At Breathe 2025, Dr. Cioboată will present From Airway Infection to Obstruction: The COPD–TB Connection, offering insights grounded in field experience and evidence-based innovation.
