Professor Demetrios A. Spandidos is a world-renowned leader in molecular oncology, biochemistry, and genetics, whose groundbreaking work has shaped modern understanding of cellular oncogenes and gene transfer technologies. He holds degrees from prestigious institutions including a PhD in Biochemistry from McGill University and a DSc in Genetics from the University of Glasgow, and he is a Professor Emeritus at the Medical School of the University of Crete in Greece.
Professor Spandidos is a Fellow of numerous esteemed scientific societies, including the Royal Society of Pathology, Royal Society of Health, American Society of Angiology, and Academia Europaea. He has received Honorary Doctorates from the Universities of Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, and his academic journey includes teaching and research roles in Greece, Japan, the USA, China, and beyond.
With over 1,000 published scientific articles, 9 authored books, and the founding of 12 international journals under Spandidos Publications, his contribution to scientific publishing is equally transformative.
