Cezar Mătau

Senior Pulmonologist @ Department of Pulmonology at Strasbourg University Hospital

Dr. Cezar Aurelian Mătau is an accomplished pulmonologist and educator, recognized for his expertise in interventional bronchoscopy, severe asthma management, and advanced medical education. He serves as Senior Doctor in the Department of Pulmonology at Strasbourg University Hospital (CHU Strasbourg), where he also leads the Bronchoscopy Unit and coordinates training through the G-ECHO thoracic ultrasound education network.

A graduate of Iuliu Hațieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Cluj-Napoca, Dr. Mătau completed his pulmonology specialization in Bucharest and has practiced at Strasbourg University Hospital since 2009. He is actively involved in training junior doctors in bronchoscopy and thoracic ultrasound, and collaborates with academic simulation centers, including IHU Strasbourg.

He has authored and co-authored numerous international publications on bronchial thermoplasty, severe asthma, lung infections, and simulation-based learning, and frequently lectures at industry-sponsored symposia across Europe.

Dr. Mătau is a member of several professional societies, including ERS, SPLF, GETIF, EABIP, and WABIP, and serves as a consultant for multiple international medical technology companies.

At Breathe 2025, he will present on cutting-edge interventional bronchoscopy and its role in managing complex pulmonary cases, offering insights grounded in both high-level clinical practice and innovation in education.
